What is Weed Flavoured E liquid - is it legal weed?!

In the UK, it is currently illegal to sell or buy any cannabis products that contain more than 0.2% THC - the psychoactive compound of cannabis that is associated with the feeling of being “high”. However, THC’s cannabinoid cousin CBD is legal in the UK and readily available online and in stores. CBD has all the health benefits associated with cannabis (such as helping with anxiety and pain), but without the “high” we think of when we think of weed. Many people who use CBD though still like their products to taste authentic, to have that marijuana or cannabis flavouring to them. As such, weed flavoured or marijuana flavoured e-liquid is very popular in the UK.
In this post, I will explain to you what marijuana e liquid is and the best CBD brand for weed flavoured eliquid in the UK in my opinion…
First off, e liquid (or vape juice) is the liquid that you vape using your vaping device - this is true for both CBD and non-CBD vaping. This liquid base is made up of a blend of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG). The ratio of which will determine your vaping experience - if you want a thicker plume of vape cloud you want to look for e liquids that have a higher ratio of VG, but for more flavour and a slightly harsher smoke on the back of your throat you should look for a higher ratio of PG. The only difference between non-CBD and CBD e liquid is that instead of nicotine or flavouring, CBD e liquids are blended with hemp extract and, in some cases, natural terpenes.
Terpenes are essentially the compound that is responsible for giving all plants (not just cannabis) their specific smell (and so taste), so in the case of weed flavoured e liquids, they are derived from the cannabis plant. Terpenes are entirely legal and will not get you high. However, they are believed to enhance the effects of the CBD in what is known as the entourage effect.
If you are looking for that authentic weed flavour when vaping - you will want to go for a CBD e liquid that contain these natural terpenes rather than synthetic flavouring. Some places label this quite clearly calling it “marijuana e liquid” or “weed e liquid” or they will name them after the cannabis strain that the terpenes are derived (hence their weedy names like “OG Kush”).
The specific cannabis strain will determine the flavour profile of the e liquid. For example, some can be more earthy, others more citrusy. My favourite weed flavoured e liquids tend to be derived from the following strains: Super Lemon Haze and Sour Diesel. A brand I have tried recently - Paso - have a great range of e liquids that you can either buy in a CBD cartridge or in a 10 ml bottle so you can fill up your own device. Their e liquids are 10% (with also 5% in the 10ml bottle), but they also have a much stronger option that is 65% CBD (plus CBG), but this is not an e liquid - it is a CBD vape oil cartridge meaning it is just made from pure hemp extract, terpenes and no PG / VG base blend. Note, that for these high concentration CBD cartridges (usually marked as CBD vape oil rather than CBD e liquid) will require a stronger vaping device than if you are vaping e liquids as the CBD vape oil is less viscous so takes a little more to heat it up.
